Sans microwave,

life stinks. How did I ever live w/o one in my not-so-distant Indian past?
Now, till this one is fixed, my life is broken....

Imagine our grandmothers slaving away at wood fires all day! That too in wet clothes (for "madi")

Lak: I have even seen this in action - all the more reason why I don't want to do it.....how is it going with you?

Lak: To add to my above comment,
.....and 'madi' was imposed more for cleanliness, hygiene and practice of mental control. However, it now seems to have lost the true meaning - I mean, people seem to be madi for the sake of just being madi...don't get me started on madi - I'll go on and on.

What do you use your microwave for? I usually heat up stuff in it or, slightly less often, cook veggies in it (esply if the stove-top is taken up!)

Shyam - pretty much the same, I also boil things in it like tomato thokku, etc, quicker and less messier. It shoudl be back soon, so fingers crossed.

SO true.. my mom likes to warm water in the microwave during cold weather(it's so quick compared to doing it in a pathram on the gas stove!)
I use the microwave mainly to heat stuff though.. very rarely have i cooked something on the microwave..

Vid: good to see u up and running. We use the electric jug here for water, but I do tend to use microwave, even for pulikaichal etc
