Ps and Qs

It's happened at last. We do, from now on, have to mind our Ps and Qs while blogging, as our Ministerial services department has so kindly told us. As far as the Government goes, image is everything!

Whew, at least, I can still blog (like I have anything useful to blog about is entirely a differernt matter!)

*********************************

Had a nice little quake here y'day that rattled the windows quite impressively. 4.5 on the Richter and epicentre about 5 km from here. My first while on the 12th floor.

Me: I've gotten used to them (rather unwillingly) as NZ has far too many of them. But I can truthfully say that I am never very comfy with them. At least, not yet.

Arroclint: Welcome. Amusing .....well, maybe to those who watch the building swaying on telly, but believe me, nothing amused me less when I was actually in the building when it happened:)

i would also be uncomfortable and nervous if I had to experience an earthquake! How would you know its minor and will not cause any damage until it's done?!!:)

How are things otherwise, Papji? I just had a long day at work, and am tired. Every spring, there's a place close to here that'll have a great display of tulips. Am planning to go for that this week or the next one.

Ah ! the topic of earth quakes reminds me of this incident.

I am a graduate student and therefore spend many futile hours in front of the computer willing it to produce numbers that I want to see. Aside: NO. I am not a software engineer in the making. Anyway, I am wont to people that shake their legs or whatever the appropriate term for that annoying behavior may be. There are many in my lab that are given to that habit. I was always dissuaded from that habit and was taught to frown upon that particular nervous tic all through my school years in India. So on this day, this brilliant day, I feel this annoying and very persisting shaking of the computer monitor that I am willing to produce numbers that I want to see and I come to realize a few hours later that it was actually an EQ that registered a very impressive 7 on the richter scale thought the EC was many thousands of miles away from here.

This isnt a part of the country that is wont to EQ's. So that was amazing and ofcourse that also brought about my feelings of guilt for the fellow 'computer-staring-wishful-thinking-hoping-against-all-hope' grad student.

Anyways, I should shut up now.

ML, LR !

Gosh that really sounds scary. My bro told me abt the earthquake just before the tsunami. He had to drag 3 people aged 80+ out of our flat and he was terrified.
Hello ML LR, we meet again in the blogosphere:)

Thangai: Yup, it would have been even more scary as we don't normally expect them in Chennai, whereas we are used to them here (kind of)!

Ravishing: That would be becoz u're from Dunedin and find Wlg too much the big city!! I love it here, although I feel the way you feel about Wlg, about Akl. But the people who live there love it. Just goes to show....
