Colours

You can actually see them nowadays on Lambton Quay (LQ is like the Mount Road of Wlg CBD).

I still remember my first walk down LQ during lunch time, years ago. A hurrying sea of black - with a few greys and whites thrown it - that was it. That sight almost depressed me, being as I was then, so used to bright Indian colours and fashions.I instinctively turned around to look at the flowers on the roadside, riotously colourful. Probably the only colourful living things...

But all that's changed now - bright fashion has slowly been creeping into business attire. Yesterday, I saw red, greens, bright blues, yellows and even an occasional purple. And you can see long flowing skirts and more feminine fashions with beadwork, etc. Those severe, pencil thin skirts seem a thing of the past.

However, the wheel of fashion will continue turning. I am just going to enjoy this phase while it lasts....

Wish you a "colourful" life ahead! I'm sure you are contributing to those colours too! How's the new job? Ooh, I'd love to be an editor!

Hi L,

Fashion is created and re-created almost every hour. You yourself must be an ardent contributor to it, as it just requires a creative mind and your mind being filled with it, it would only come naturally to you.

So what colours do you wear??:) Btw you are linked now:) I finally figured out (with lots of help!!) how to do the blogroll!

Thanks Lak. Long time, how is it going with you? New job going fine.

Hari,
As usual, you are too nice. Much appreciated.

Akka: congratulations on your blog roll - I was clever enough to change my template so lost all my links. Have to rework them into the blog. What colours do I wear - I just stay true to pattern - and try to strike the right balanace - nothing too flashy and nothing too subdued.

An Indian blogger in Wellington. Phew :-). And a editor at that. Nice blog. Read a lot of your archives today. Are you an editor of the dailies, community newspapers or the magazines? Lets see if I bump into you next week. I am calling all the editors of dailies and some community magazines to publicise 2 concerts of Indian classical music in Wellington in October. Lets see if I happen to call you. At the moment all I know is your name starts with L :-), lets see how far I get with it. I love Wellington for the social circle here and its a closed circle, I have a feeling I know you. Cheers,

And about the girls fashion in Wellington, I agree. I know coz my wife has similar observation these days :-)

Bharat: I think we kind of may have some common friends? Do you work in Stokes Valley? And did you recently go to India on holiday. And are you Marathi? If yes, I am right and we do have friends in common. If not, then, sorry, and we can start introductions again...And I don't work in any mag or newspaper that you may be contacting (when you know where I work, you will know why...)
Will surely check out the concert link....

Wow ! You are bang on. You got all of it right except the Stokes Valley part, I work in Wingate, Lower Hutt and live in Kelson. Did my first name ring the bell, man I must be famous :-), what else could have given you the clue I wonder. Have we met before or is it thru common friends that heard of each other?

Bharat: It just so happens that I am good freinds with a young couple called C & P, who live in Avalon...and I've heard that you are P's colleague at work. And I also know that M, your wife, is doing her MBA in Vic Uni, as is my hubby. Not sure if you've heard of Lakshmi and Shiva, who live in Waterloo - that's us!!!

Hi Lakshmi, it's me again. Can you give me a little advice? As u saw in my last post I've started another blog solely for my published articles (at the moment I've put up the oldest ones, since I'm going in chronological order). Articles are ok I guess, but when it comes to short stories,I nurture hopes of their getting published as a collection some day. In that case is it a good idea to put the entire stories on the blog? Or shall I just put up excerpts? Or not even those?

Bharat: I am sure we'll meet sometime soon. Cheers

C: Well you are younger than me, so.....

Lak: If you are hoping to publish something, then don't put it in your blog. Many publishers prefer exclusive work....unless you are going to publish them yourself.

Thanks, lakhs! I guess it'll mean a stagnant blog, but I don't mind--like I said, I'm hoping, one day----
